Starlink V4 vs V5: which kit do you have?

V4 and V5 are different Starlink home internet terminals. Knowing the model helps Satworks plan the correct mounting, power and cabling before your appointment.

Is V4 the same as Standard 4 X?

Yes. Starlink identifies V4 as Standard 4 X. It is a different product from Mini and Standard 4, so check your order details rather than relying on “Standard” alone.

How does V5 differ from V4?

V5 has a smaller body and lower typical electricity use. Starlink lists a pipe adapter with V5. Router compatibility does not confirm which router is supplied in your particular order.

Will V5 always be faster?

No. Starlink lists hardware peak download capabilities of over 400 Mbps for V4 and over 375 Mbps for V5. These are capability figures, not promised connection speeds. Your plan, local network conditions, available capacity and obstructions affect actual performance.

Can V5 be used while travelling?

Starlink says V5 is not designed for use while a vehicle is moving. Check the equipment and plan rules before planning any mobile installation.

Can I order V5 anywhere?

Starlink currently describes a limited regional rollout. Check the kit offered for your address; Satworks cannot guarantee that a particular model will be supplied.

What should I tell Satworks before installation?

Send the model shown on your order and photographs of the terminal, connectors and proposed mounting location. We will assess the bracket, cable route and access requirements. A smaller terminal does not by itself establish that an existing mount or cable can be reused.

Arrange a Starlink installation or ask for help identifying your kit.
